1. Who we are
PCAT Africa is a research project led by the University of Cape Town (UCT), together with partner institutions across 11 sub-Saharan African countries. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, pcat.africa (the site).
It does not cover the separate Primary Care Assessment Tool survey platform at u.pcat.africa. That platform has its own privacy practices, which you can check when you visit it.
2. Information we collect
This site is under construction. At the moment, the only personal information we collect is what you choose to give us through the “get notified when we launch” form:
- your name (optional)
- your email address (required).
We do not collect any other personal information through this site. We do not run our own cookies or analytics. Your browser does connect to Google Fonts to load our typefaces – see section 6 below.
Current status: the notify-me form is built using the Gutena Forms plugin. When you submit the form, your name and email address are saved in the site’s WordPress database on our hosting server, and may also be emailed to the person who manages this site.
3. How we use your information
We use your name and email address only to let you know when the full site launches. We do not use it for anything else, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
4. Legal basis for processing
We rely on your consent when you submit the form. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us – see section 10.
5. How long we keep your information
We keep your name and email address until we send our launch notification, after which we delete it, or until you ask us to delete it sooner.
6. Who we share your information with
We do not share your information with third parties, except our hosting provider, which stores the site’s database on our behalf.
This site uses Google Fonts to display its typefaces. Google may process your IP address when your browser requests these fonts – see Google’s privacy policy for more information.
7. Links to other sites
This site links to the separate PCAT tool at u.pcat.africa, and may link to partner institutions’ websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not apply once you leave pcat.africa.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect any information you give us, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
9. Children
This site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
10. Your rights and how to contact us
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), you have the right to:
- ask us what information we hold about you
- ask us to correct inaccurate information
- ask us to delete your information
- object to how we use your information.
To exercise any of these rights, or if you have questions about this policy, contact:
